Thoughts Along Life's Journey
When we read the first chapter of Genesis we see how God felt about everything He made. He created the light and said it was good. Then He created the sky and said it was good. It was the same each of the six days that He created; always He said it was good. However, when God made man and woman He did not specifically say it was good. Why it that? Because humanity, made in His own image (Genesis 1:27) is better than good in His eyes.
There is a beautiful verse in Zephaniah 3:17 that tells us how God feels about us: He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. This passage is actually speaking about the Millennial reign of Christ. Nonetheless, it reveals His love for us today. Just think — God Almighty cherishes you. He knows your weakness, your fears, your failures but He adores you. God sees the possibility within us when we have all but given up. He has to put us back on the potter’s wheel again and again as He molds us into the likeness of His character. Even so, He never tires of continual molding because doing so is a great pleasure to Him. With every step we take in becoming strong in our faith, He is singing in joy over us.
We can so easily get discouraged when we look into spiritual mirrors and see reflections of our weaknesses staring back at us, but do not despair because your Heavenly Father is not giving up on any of us. He is in the creating business. Jesus died to make all things possible for you and me. The Holy Spirit resides within us, always whispering encouraging words, giving guidance, making God’s Word alive in our hearts that we may better hear when He says, this is the way, now walk in it (Isaiah 30:21).
When God creates, it is always good; when He looks at each of HIs children, He is always singing. Let us sing, too, giving Him all praise that is due Him. After all, He is our everything to get us through anything. That’s something to sing about.
